Yellowstone, 1969, part 2

According to Yellowstone National Park’s photo collection site, this JR Douglass photo, taken on the Fourth of July, 1969, depicts cars on an old road near Castle Geyser, not too far from Old Faithful. That road must now be the Continental Divide Trail, which appears to be closed off to vehicular traffic, probably due to the traffic jams like Douglass saw. What do you see here?
