Weatherford, Texas, 1950s

The town square in Weatherford, Texas, looks rather straightforward in this 1950s photo from the Portal to Texas History, but the modern-day Street View makes it look a little more complicated. Neither the Palace Theater nor Citizens National Bank remain, so we had to circle the square a couple times before determining that the photo was taken at the intersection of York and Dallas avenues, looking toward the latter. What do you see here?
