Watch Drag Weeker John Puckett Dominate No-Prep With his Stick-Shift Coyote Capri

Published by Mike on

John Puckett’s Coyote-powered 1983 Mercury Capri is one of our favorites at Drag Week, presented by Gear Vendors. As a quick recap, Puckett’s Capri is a little different than most. What started as a little 302/four-speed car quickly turned into a nine-second, all-FoMoCo brute.

While a nitrous-huffing 401 got him pretty far, Puckett’s Capri now sports a Ford Racing Coyote 9.5 Aluminator, which is force-fed by a Vortec YSi supercharger. A T-56 Magnum splits the gears, and the Coyote is good for low-nines.

While we won’t see Puckett at Drag Week 2016, he wrapped up a second-place finish at Rocky Mountain Race Week just before winning this race, The Shop Inc’s Heads Up – No Prep Race at I-29 Dragway.
