Watch! 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Run 10.61 in ¼ Mile

Ford’s aim with the new Shelby GT500 is to “flatter the novice and reward the expert” when it comes to performance. Speaking of which, how does a 10.61 at 133 mph sound? That number is what is possible in the hands of an expert, but even at the hands of a novice, the new Shelby GT500 is a solid 10-second car. We say it all the time, but isn’t technology great?!

Ever since the first late-model Shelby GT500 was introduced for the 2007 model year, we looked forward to each subsequent version. Knowing how Ford Motor Company works, we knew each version would be better than the last. Not only that, but with the competition’s offerings continuing to push the performance envelope, we knew the latest Shelby GT500 would be a wicked piece.

The last GT500 from 2014 made 662 hp at the flywheel, so we guessed horsepower for the newest version would have to be up over the 700hp mark. Ford overshot that mark by 60 hp, coming in at 760 hp at the flywheel for the 5.2L Predator engine. It didn’t stop at horsepower, either. The new GT500 features a Tremec DCT, which does all the work for you and is on par with the world’s fiercest super cars.
