Virginia, 1959
Where’s the barkers? Where’s the lifestyle booths? Where’s the booze? Okay, so maybe this photo of an auto auction taken in November 1959, courtesy the Library of Virginia, doesn’t exactly depict a predecessor to modern-day collector car auctions, but it is interesting to see not only how auto auctions were run then but also to see what sorts of vehicles they were auctioning off. What do you see here, and what do you suppose it all went for?
