Vancouver, British Columbia, 1973

Chilco Street on the west end of Vancouver, British Columbia, appears to be a rather quiet end of town – residential, bordered by parks, and nowadays home to a bikeway. So what caused the traffic jam seen in this June 14, 1973, photo (looking south from West Georgia Street) that we came across on Dave S.’s Flickr stream? It seems to be more than a simple accident blocking traffic and more like an organized event. Whatever the cause, it’s brought out plenty of vehicles for us to linger over. What do you see here?
