Track-Day Third-Gen Camaro – Extra Photos!

We Can’t Remember The Last Time We Said, “Wow, That’s A Radical Third-Gen”
At least half of the HOT ROD staff saw Austin Gerding’s ’87 Camaro carving up the autocross course during the ’12 HOT ROD Power Tour®, and we were dying to know the secrets behind building a machine that looked so wickedly capable. It turns out that Austin is a mechanical engineer who works at GKN Driveline, a developer and supplier of CV joints, AWD systems, and transaxles. With that sort of background, it’s no wonder his Camaro has evolved into such a neck-snapper. Here’s how a moderate budget and a whole lot of engineering and fabrication talent made for an interstate-capable track car.
