This Day in History: Kaiser-Frazer buys Willys

On April 28, 1953, Kaiser-Frazer officially bought Willys-Overland in a deal that had originally been announced in March. The deal was valued at a whopping $63,381,175 and catapulted the new firm into being the world’s fourth largest auto company overnight. Kaiser and Willys operations were merged under the name Willys Motors, and Willys passenger cars were soon discontinued.
