This Day in History: First Rand McNally road atlas published

On April 15, 1924, Rand McNally released its first comprehensive road atlas, opening up the wonderful world of the road trip. The Clason Map Company may have beaten them to market a few months earlier with the very first road atlas of the U.S., but Rand McNally quickly became synonymous with American motoring routes and mapping.
