This Day in History: First production Volvo leaves the line

On April 14, 1927, the first regular production Volvo, ÖV4, nicknamed “Jakob,” left the assembly line in Goteborg, Sweden. The introduction of the new car was delayed by a day when an engineer discovered that the rear differential had been fitted incorrectly – when he tried to drive the car off the line on April 13, it went backwards instead!
