St. Louis, Missouri, 1950s

The sign for the no-longer-extant Witte Hardware Company makes this late 1950s photo (which we spotted on Blog dos Carros Antigos) rather easy to place – St. Louis, Missouri, just south of the Eads Bridge, looking away from that city’s most famous landmark. Indeed, Missouri used yellow-on-black license plates – as we see on at least a couple of the cars in the photo – from 1956 to 1961. So all that’s left now is to identify the cars in the photo.
