Somewhere USA, 1950s

It took some guessing, but we finally got an answer to where our last unknown street scene was taken, so let’s try this again and up the ante. As with the previous unknown street scene, this one comes from the Duke University Library’s photo archives, but this time we’re not so certain on the date of the photo. So does anybody recognize the location, and can you tell us when approximately the photo was taken based on the cars in the scene?
