SIA Flashback – The Winds of Change: 1926 Chevrolet vs. 1926 Ford
Chevrolet and Ford seem eternally antagonizing each other, almost to the point of believing that their feud goes back long before the invention of the automobile, but as Arch Brown pointed out in his article comparing Ford and Chevrolet’s 1926 offerings for SIA #151, January 1996, Ford had quite the head start on Chevrolet, a position that lasted into the early 1920s, and only a monumental effort on Chevrolet’s part (and a lack of development on Ford’s part) would bring the two even close to parity by the latter half of the 1920s. Even then, Chevrolet and Ford offered two different products, aimed at slightly different customer bases.
