SIA Flashback – Last Battle for a Diminishing Market: 1939 Cadillac V-16 vs. 1939 Packard Twelve
One has to hand it to the staff of SIA, particularly for their ability to find complementary cars for their comparison reports. A great example: the comparo by Arch Brown in SIA #138, November 1993, which featured a pair of big black ultra-luxury phaetons from the waning years of the multi-cylinder era, a Derham-bodied 1939 Packard Twelve and a Fleetwood-bodied one-of-four 1939 Packard V-16. For their external similarities, though, they presented a number of differences, which Brown handily illustrated.
