SIA Flashback – Jazz-Age Speedster: 1922 Marmon Model 34
Marmons were never light cars, despite Howard Marmon’s affinity for aluminum, but after riding along with Arch Brown as he took the wheel of this 1922 Marmon Model 34 for SIA #190, August 2002, we can see that they were absolute bears to drive. Not to say that they didn’t have their assets: They were fast, stylish, imposing, and capable of taking a corner almost like a sports car. What’s more, Howard Marmon, perfectionist that he was, made sure that all of his products – including this one – were built to the highest standards of engineering excellence of the day. No surprise to see why they were so highly regarded in their day.
