SIA Flashback – Driveable Dream: 1950 Lincoln Sport Sedan
Up until we introduced the Driveable Dreams series late in the SIA run, old cars pretty much had to look shiny or have some important backstory to get into the pages of the magazine. Driveable Dreams, on the other hand, celebrated the rundown, sometimes rusty, nowhere near shiny, but well-loved and well-used old cars that still plied the roads, restoration not necessary. So for SIA #192, December 2002, Jim Donnelly and Richard Lentinello flagged down Jim Rawling and his 1950 Lincoln Sport Sedan – a mostly complete car with rumpled upholstery and rust blooming on its flanks and who-cares-how-many miles on the strong-running big Lincoln flathead V-8 – for a photo shoot and story.
