SIA Flashback – Driveable Dream: 1940 Buick Special Convertible
Admittedly, many of the cars we’ve profiled as Driveable Dreams over the years get labeled as such due to the simple fact that their owners take them around town, to the ice cream stand and back, maybe to an out-of-town car show every now and then. Les Gordon’s 1940 Buick Special convertible, however, warranted a Driveable Dream feature in SIA #194, April 2003, for the nearly 6,000-mile road trip he and his wife Anna Lee took it on. And if nothing else, for that great pull quote: “If my belt buckle scratches it, so be it. I don’t have to worry about that or kids touching it. I open the doors and just tell them to pile on in.”
