SIA Flashback – Convertible Associates: 1960 Buick LeSabre vs. Edsel Ranger

Would new car buyers cross shop a Buick LeSabre with an Edsel Ranger in 1960? For his comparison test in SIA #181, January 2001, Arch Brown posits a pretty convincing argument that they would’ve, especially when it comes to the two-door droptop versions of the two cars. He points out a number of similarities between the two, and photographer Bud Juneau’s driving impressions seem to paint the two fairly equally, with one excelling where the other doesn’t and vice versa. Which would you choose?
