SIA Flashback – American Cars in Japan

It’s easy to focus on the history of the automobile here in the United States and over in Europe to the detriment of the automobile’s evolution elsewhere in the world, particularly in Japan, despite the prominence of Japanese automobiles in the American and world market. Peter Laurence made a brief stab at correcting that with his article in SIA #152, March 1996, noting not only how American cars dominated the Japanese car market before World War II, but also how more contemporary Japanese viewed vintage American automobiles.
