SIA Flashback – Corvette SS: The One and Only

As exalted a place as the Corvette SS holds in Chevrolet lore nowadays, what with Zora Arkus-Duntov, Ed Cole, Clare MacKichan, and John Fitch involved in its conception and development, it’s interesting to read Rich Taylor’s account of the SS from SIA #107, October 1988, in which it seems the SS was little more than a poorly executed and slapdash affair, deserving of its failure at Sebring and merely spared the pain of further embarrassment by the 1957 AMA racing ban.
