Shell Lake, Wisconsin, 1980s

Not a lot of cars in today’s carspotting photo, which we came across on The Wisconsin Project and which depicts the beach and camping area at Shell Lake, but who cares – it’s a nice, sunny, summer scene, and we need that after the winter we’ve had. Can’t you smell the breeze off the lake? Can’t you feel the hot asphalt parking lot under your feet (and hot vinyl seats sticking to the backs of your legs)? Can’t you imagine just laying on the sand and watching those big cotton candy clouds careen across the blue sky? And what do you see here?
