Scottsdale preview: Battle of the Crosleys

Crosley clown car

Turning our attention back to Barrett-Jackson and Russo and Steele, not only are they competing this year on the huge-by-big Blastolene front, but they will also compete on the itty-by-bitty Crosley front. Some would argue that all Crosleys are clown cars of some sort, but Russo and Steele will offer an actual 1947 Crosley clown car, apparently used at the Barnum and Bailey circus, where kids not only saw clowns inside the car, but also decorating the exterior of the car.

Crosley fire engine amusement park ride

Meanwhile, over at Barrett-Jackson, we’ll see an Overland Amusements-built 1951 Crosley hook-and-ladder truck cross the block. This one was restored by a fire equipment dealer, so it’s more fire truck than kiddie park amusement ride. It also has a Jeep F-head four-cylinder under the hood instead of the Crosley overhead-cam four-cylinder.
