Rutland, Vermont, 1972
Why exactly photographer Woody Grimes went around to various locations in Rutland, Vermont, on March 28, 1972, to take dozens of photographs, we don’t know. Perhaps a survey of road and traffic conditions, perhaps just to document his town, perhaps just to burn a roll of film. Whatever the case, we’ve got plenty of carspotting thanks to his efforts and thanks to the Vermont Landscape Change project. Starting off with the lead image, we see the intersection of Grove and Crescent streets, then a view looking south on South Main Street, followed by a shot looking north onto the intersection of Main with Madison Street and Killington Avenue, and then finally the intersection of Main and Killington from the other direction. What do you see here?
