Restoration followup: 1955 Studebaker Commander

Published by Mike on

In the December issue, I ran an Under Restoration story on a Commander that our good friend Bob Sekelsky was restoring. At the time, the owner wanted it black: “Black shows everything,” said Bob.  “We’ll have to pay lots of attention to getting every little thing straight.”

But the car had started out red, and after we published the story, the owner changed his mind. “He did finally decide on the red, which I think was a good choice,” said Bob. HMN readers might enjoy a little closure on this story, as the Under Restoration department seldom shows you the finished product, so here’s the car with red going on. Bob paints in a tight garage, but the results are darn close to concours level, as his several show-winners can attest. Nice job, as usual, Bob! That makes a nice little Christmas ornament.
