QA1 True Street Competitors Let It All Hang Out at Holley’s Intergalactic Ford Festivals
True Street Performers
The NMRA All-Ford World Finals is historically known for its large contingent of QA1 True Street competitors. The NMRA and Holley Performance joining forces for the Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival might’ve had an impact on True Street staging since competitors used to line up on the roundy-round track. However, with autocross and drifting action taking place, the NMRA lined up all 150 of them in Beech Bend Raceway’s staging lanes.
True Street competitors are made up of street cars, hence the name, but they must also prove their cars’ road-worthiness by completing a cruise through Bowling Green’s countryside. After the leisurely cruise, competitors return to Beech Bend to complete three back-to-back passes to arrive at an average. Addition to True Street, though, the classes’ fastest competitors are also eligible to compete in other spin-off classes, as well.
QA1 True Street competitors are like bad golfers; they get their money’s worth. Since they get test passes, the 30-mile cruise, the back-to-back passes, and then the possibility of Sunday racing, they have the opportunity to get a lot of time behind the wheel during an NMRA race weekend. If you raced QA1 True Street and looking to see if we caught you or your favorite racer in action, here’s a gallery for you.
