HISTORY ASPECTS:The White M3 Scout Car developed by the White Motor Company during the early years of World War II was a highly versatile armored vehicle designed for reconnaissance and support roles. First entering service in 1941 it was one of the most important light armored vehicles used by the United States military during the war. The M3 Scout Car was built on the chassis of a commercial truck and featured a fully enclosed steel body offering protection against small arms fire and shrapnel. It was equipped with a .50 caliber M2 Browning heavy machine gun mounted in a fully rotating turret giving it significant firepower for its size. The vehicles ability to quickly move across rough terrain made it invaluable for reconnaissance missions convoy protection and supporting infantry in a variety of combat situations.The M3 Scout Car saw action in numerous theaters of World War II including North Africa Europe and the Pacific. In the North African Campaign it was used extensively by U.S. forces as they battled the Axis powers particularly the Germans and Italians.
