After coming across David Falconer’s shots of the fuel crisis last week, we spent some time trawling through his other photos for the EPA’s Documerica project and found these two junkyard scenes taken in February 1974. “Stacked autos are crushed and shipped to Japan, then return to the United States as Toyotas and Datsuns to begin the cycle once again,” Falconer wrote. At least he captured them for posterity before that happened. Carspotters, what do you see here?
