Portland, Oregon, 1973

According to the captions for these two David Falconer photos, taken in September and December of 1973 for the Documerica project, we see darkened neon and other commercial signs due to the ongoing energy shortages at that time. But car guys don’t need neon signs to identify the cars and trucks on Southwest Broadway in Portland (above) and Highway 99w just south of town (below). What do you see here?
