From these photos of downtown Port Arthur, Texas, in the 1950s that we came across on the Portal to Texas History, the town sure seemed lively – at least, a lot livelier than the same two scenes appear today. Above, we have an appliance store on the 700 block of Procter Street, and below, a department and drug store on the 500 block of the same street. What do you see here?
