From firsthand experience I know that it doesn’t even take road construction to back up the Henry Hudson Parkway like this, so I can just imagine what closing off the parkway at 79th Street – or at any intersection, for that matter – would do to traffic and to drivers’ tempers. I can also just imagine what the guy in the Buick in the foreground is yelling out his window, and it probably isn’t “Have a nice day.” Photo comes from the Library of Congress. What do you see here?
