More weather updates from Scottsdale
Matt Litwin writes:
More rain – there is talk of t-storms with hail this afternoon…looks like the wind has calmed overnight for the time being. Phoenix airport broke a single day rainfall total that had been set in 1962…smashed it by almost an inch. A sink hole has since formed in downtown.
From what we heard last night, B-J was on top of the weather, passing updates. We never heard that there was a tornado warning for Scottsdale last night while Terry and I were running around under the tents. Found that out after I signed off last night.
Heard a live update from R&S president on the am news. Currently, the Scottsdale fire department still has the area secured. They are hoping to get the all clear to enter the site an assess things, including car owners. He also said that the damage may not be as bad as feared because the tents were lifted and moved, exposing most of the cars. However, overhead images clearly show several support polls on top of several cars. Currently, they are still planning on continuing with the auction once the area has been cleaned and secured. Several convertibles with tops down were exposed to the heavy rain when the tents collapsed. In short, it looks like we’ll be hitting R&S last.
The cruise on Saturday looks like it will be wet, according to the long range.
Will update with any new developments. Looks like we’ll be hitting RM and possibly Gooding today.
UPDATE: Keith Yaskin, a reporter for Fox10 News in Phoenix, just tweeted the first photo we’ve seen of the Russo and Steele site. He also reports the site “closed as insurance officials check things out and clean up continues” and that some car owners aren’t satisfied with the steps R&S took to prevent damage to their cars.
