Mobile, Alabama, 1940s

Rodney McDonald, he of the Positive Earth blog, sent us a few photos from The Old Mobilian representing a twist on our bridges theme for our street scene series. In Mobile, Alabama, rather than build a bridge to cross the Mobile River and possibly impede ship traffic from reaching the port facilities, it was decided to continue Government Street underneath the River with the Bankhead Tunnel. Carspotters, what do you see in these images?
