Los Angeles, 1961, part 2

Shot just a day after and not far from where the photos of Los Angeles traffic that we highlighted last week were shot, these photos – also courtesy the USC Digital Library’s online photo archive – focus on the traffic passing through the intersection of First and Grand streets in downtown Los Angeles, as seen from the roof of the courthouse. Perhaps the most compelling photo from the series, however, comes when the photographer turned slightly to shoot the parking lot to his right (presumably across Grand, looking northwest), giving us a smog-screened view of the mountains.
