Los Angeles, 1960s
Ah, the poetry of the traffic-choked Los Angeles freeway scene. In our quest to go faster, we have somehow instead come to a standstill. In our quest to become more mobile and worldly, we have instead become more isolated. It used to be that I never thought anything could be uglier than a congested freeway, but this image from Retro World shows that there’s still some sort of takeaway from such a sight. Based on the cars in the image, this must have been taken within a couple years of yesterday’s Princeton shot. What do you see here?
