Los Angeles, 1952
L.A. just wasn’t built for rain. Even the threat of some drizzle keeps most Angelenos inside, clustered around the emergency radio, waiting for word that their blessed sun has returned to the skies. So it’s surprising we see so many cars braving the rain and the standing water in these two street scenes – both taken in November 1952 at the corner of West Eighth Street and South Hill Street – that we came across on the USC Libraries Digital Collections. What do you see here?
