La Carrera Panamericana 2013 – rain and disappointment
From Steve’s photos, we see that the La Carrera Panamericana competitors got rained on quite a bit over the weekend. Good for washing the ever-present dust off the cars, probably not so good for the competition. In fact, it appears the organizers canceled the first stage of Friday’s racing due to the rain, but the rest of the race has continued as planned, with the No. 122 Studebaker of Gabriel Perez and Ignacio Rodriguez at the top of each day’s results.
Our intrepid apple farmers haven’t done so well. While they came in 26th overall and third in class on the first day of racing, fuel pressure issues forced them to drop out of the race and head home. Steve said he’s going to remain in Mexico for the duration, however, and continue sending back photos as he can.
On the streets of Queretaro at the end of Day Three on Sunday.
