Qualifying at La Carrera Panamericana 2013 took place Thursday in Veracruz with the usual Policia Federal presence, as we see from Steve Berry’s photos. Judging from the day’s results, the racing will be rather competitive, with less than a minute separating all but the last four qualifiers. Hilaire Damiron and Elizabeth Tejada in their #115 Studebaker qualified first, while other Studebakers helped fill out eight of the top 10 starting positions.

The #380 Mustang of Swiss team Marco Brunner and Uelil Schnorf qualified 29th, but at just 21 seconds back.

Enrique Meza and Leopoldo Ceseña of Mexico finished about 33 seconds back in their BMW, good for a qualifying spot of 47th.

And our Apple Farmer Racing team in the #14 Studebaker – that’s driver Richard Bailey and copilot Chad McKinney – qualified a respectable 18th, finishing about 17 seconds back.
