In Search Of Moby
The Culmination of a 40-Year Quest
In early January 1970, Herman Bawarus of South Kona, Hawaii, walked into I. Kitagawa & Company, the oldest car dealership in the State of Hawaii, and ordered a ’70 Plymouth Road Runner with all the proverbial whistles and bells. His wish list included a 426-inch Street Hemi, A833 four-speed manual transmission, and a 4.10-geared Dana 60 Super Track Pack axle. Herman’s Hemi also came with Mopar’s high-performance brake package and a set of 15×7 Rallye wheels and F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. Since this Plymouth would live in one of the wettest places in the South Pacific, factory undercoating was also ordered.
