    Following is estimate of basic costs (1962-63) that may be expected to occur in building the economy version of the XR-6. It is expected that the builder is capable of doing most of his own work.

    Frame: Model A, $10; tubing, $60

    VW front end, complete from junk yard: $25

    Rear end: $25

    Heim rod ends: $30

    Steering: $12

    Wheels: $3 each

    Tires: $60 to $100

    Engine: $50 to $250, depending upon choice

    Transmission: $50 to $75

    Radiator: $5 to $50

    Gas tank: $5

    Body:Regular steel body $10 to $50, fiberglass $149.50

    Grille: $10 to $45

    Instruments: $10 to $50

    Upholstery: $100 to $200, by a professional

    Paint: $30

    Misc. panels for rear end, hood, etc: $40

    Gasoline: $3.50

    TOTAL COST–Between $618.50 and $1153.50 (plus gas).
