Hemmings Sunday Cinema – GN, Big Red, Armed and Dangerous
In anticipation of this year’s Goodwood Member’s Meeting, which will host a race for Edwardian aero-engined cars, Goodwood put together this video of Richard Scaldwell’s JAP V-8-engined GN, a brilliant little wood-chassised pre-war car. (via)
* One of a couple turbine big-rig projects that came out of Detroit in the mid-Sixties (along with Chevrolet’s Turbo Titan II), Big Red was Ford’s idea of how it could revolutionize trucking, complete with a mini-fridge, mini-stove, and mini-TV for the co-driver. (via)
* Technically, there’s some chasing going on in this clip from the 1986 John Candy flick “Armed and Dangerous,” but but there’s far more entertainment value in the truck plowing through traffic on the bridge. It’s also entertaining when the clip switches to Spanish halfway through.
