Hemmings Find of the Day – 1987 Ford F250 Bigfoot Cruiser
Eager to promote its sponsorship of Bob Chandler’s Bigfoot monster truck, Ford dealers offered up a special package for 1987 to 1990 pickup truck buyers that featured Bigfoot graphics, a three-inch lift, an aftermarket front bumper with winch, a double-hoop roll bar with off-road lighting, heavy-duty aftermarket shocks and 33-inch tires. While not quite to monster truck specifications, the Bigfoot Cruiser package was certainly a lot easier to live with on a daily basis, but a series of fires (later traced to cruise control units) prompted Ford to recall the trucks. Dealer repairs included removal of many aftermarket parts, including the oversize tires, front bumper, and lights, leaving the trucks looking decidedly more stock in appearance. This 1987 Ford F250 Bigfoot Cruiser, for sale on Hemmings.com, appears to have gone through the recall process, but sports nearly pristine graphics and a set of KC driving lights left untouched by the dealer. The seller claims it’s one of just 300 made, which makes it an interesting collectible for those with an affinity for Ford trucks or the Bigfoot monster truck. From the seller’s description:
1987 Ford F250 Bigfoot Cruiser, Very Rare, only 300 made. Near mint condition, only showing 8300 miles, looks and drives like an 8000 mile truck so I believe it may be true mileage.460 ci, automatic, tilt, cruise, air (blows ice cold), power locks, power windows, including rear window, KC fog lights, KC driving lights, roll bar, tonneau cover. All original except for some belts, hoses, wheel cylinders and front calipers which were replaced due to a very long storage. Several experts agree that the paint is original, very nice shine, thin in a couple spots absolutely no rust or body work.
