The rare opportunity with this 1979 Checker Marathon for sale on Hemmings.com isn’t necessarily to obtain an all-original and apparently rust-free civilian Checker, rather to sit down with the car’s original owner and find out why he or she decided to buy a Marathon over the more conventional cars then available. From the seller’s description:

This is an original Checker Marathon with the jump seats in back, being sold by the original owner. Car has been garaged and used gently over the 67,000 miles. Always serviced, currently has California smog certificate and was recently serviced. Never been in an accident, everything original. It has the usual 350 V-8 and can hold the whole family plus! It is ready for a new home. Never seen snow since it has been in Los Angeles area its whole life.
