If you haven’t gone shopping for a nice BMW 3.0CSi in a while, or any other E9 coupe, you might be surprised to see the asking prices of $40,000, $50,000, $60,000 and more attached to these cars. In contrast, consider this 1979 BMW 633CSi for sale on Hemmings.com.

Part of the E24 family that succeeded the E9, the coupe was introduced to the U.S. in 1977 as the 630CSi; the 633CSi followed in 1979, with displacement increased from 3 liters to 3.3 liters. With a smooth inline-six and handsome styling by Paul Bracq, these luxurious sports coupes have more than a little in common with their more valuable predecessors. Automotive journalist Karl Ludvigsen, a former Hemmings contributor, test drove a 630CSi for Motor Trend in 1977 and wrote, “This is the best BMW you can buy here today, and perhaps the best car the Bavarian Motor Works has yet produced.”

This one appears to be quite tidy in the photos, and the service records are a definite plus. From the seller’s description:

This 2 door sunroof coupe (E24 chassis) is finished in Henna Red on Black Leather. Extensive service records accompany this low mileage 633. Well maintained and in excellent condition, this coupe would do well at any local BMW outing or show. Optioned with a 3-speed automatic transmission and powered by BMW’s M30 engine for a responsive and enjoyable ride. A tight suspension with excellent road handling are key characteristics of this handsome BMW coupe.
