Hemmings Find of the Day – 1978 Cadillac deVille station wagon

While the exact origins of this 1978 Cadillac deVille station wagon for sale on Hemmings.com aren’t clear – coachbuilders at the time seemed to be churning out special-bodied Cadillacs left and right, and consulting Yann Saunders’s Cadillac Database turned up nothing definitive – it appears from the photos to remain unrestored, if perhaps in need of a few touchups to the paint and interior. From the seller’s description:

This original California car was sitting in a garage for years, with only 79000 Miles on the car it has just had a major service and the car is running excellent.
The Black exterior of the car is very straight, no accidents and carries all of the original sheet metal that the car came with when converted, the paint has good shine to it you can see your reelection in it but towards the rear of the car there are some visible cracks in the paint, this is around the rear quarter panel as seen in the photos, there are a few on the roof as well near the luggage rack. There are no rust issues on the body or under carriage this car has always been in California and garaged so it was never exposed to the east coast salted road conditions. The car is complete with all of its trim and bright work. There is stainless that runs down the sides of the car only available on the Station Wagon. The car has a working sunroof that is power another rare option, the doors shut and align very well there is no rattling of the glass or door panels like some older Domestic cars get, this one is tight on all four doors. The car sits on Cadillac wire wheels that are in wonderful condition and the tires have lots of tread on them.
The interior of the Cadillac is finished in a Red Bordeaux leather, the front seats were torn in the center of the driver when I Purchased the car I decided to finish the front seats over in leather, seating is power and working in all directions 6 way power for the driver and passenger, headliner is perfect and not falling down or stained, the carpet is good as well as door panels that are not peeing from the simulated wood finish, the dash has some cracking as seen in the photos, all interior lights are working as well as all windows and power door locks, Ac is blowing but because of storage time needs Freon. There is an aftermarket upgraded CD player and door speakers, this is a 9 passenger car, the rear seats can fold out for more storage or to accommodate passengers.
