Hemmings Find of the Day – 1974 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Though base models of later third-generation Corvettes may lack in performance compared to earlier Corvette variants (delivered in the days before smog and emission controls), they still look good, sound good and deliver reliable performance at a reasonable price point. You could buy a survivor and fund a restoration yourself, or for far less money, you could buy this 1974 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe for sale on Hemmings.com, which comes with just over 8,000 miles on the clock and a list of items recently replaced by the current owner. While the car’s 350-cu.in. V-8 and automatic transmission won’t win you many trophies on the strip, the T-top roof and well-sorted refresh should ensure enjoyable and carefree summer cruising. From the seller’s description:
I won this car at a Mecum auction in November 2011. It was part of the Bob McDorman collection. It has power steering, brakes and windows. It also has air and tilt steering and a flawless interior. At the time, it had 5,900 miles, but it had sat for 6 years with little maintenance. I had it trucked to Md. and then had it gone over by Frank Cimba who specializes in Corvettes and hot rods. It needed tires, hoses, belts, heater core radiator, exhaust, tune up, etc. Even though the Rochester carb was overhauled, it still stalled. So I had Frank put an Edelbrock carb with matching valve covers. I have all the original parts. It runs straight and true, even with the small V8. I constantly get a thumbs up.
