Hemmings Find of the Day – 1973 Opel Manta Luxus
There exists a fine line between personalization and customization, and this 1973 Opel Manta Luxus with the Blue Max package for sale on Hemmings.com comes right up to that line, with some of the original trim deleted, but nothing of substance altered, save for a carburetor swap. Whatever the amount of alteration from factory specifications, it remains a running and driving and rust-free car, and most people won’t even know that it’s not 100 percent stock. From the seller’s description:
This car was a special option package for the 1973 Opel Manta Luxus, it included the Luxus package, clock delete, sunroof, blue metallic exterior, blue velour interior, automatic trans. white wall tires and blue vinyl roof. This car has no rust since it was originally a west coast car and has its original 66,000 miles, all documented. This car is a real time machine, and drives great. some of the changes that have been made are: professioally applied exterior paint, vinyl roof deleted, outside chrome trim on rockers and wheel wells deleted, Weber carb replaces the original Solex. It also has an entirely newly refurbished interior that is beautiful. Mechanically this car is essentially all stock. The Achilles heal to these autos were rust, mechanically they would never die. The rust never got to this one.
