Hemmings Find of the Day – 1972 Ed Roth trike
From a quick scan of the various Ed Roth trikes out there, this 1972 Ed Roth trike for sale on Hemmings.com looks a lot like the Wheeler Dealer/Vitamin E. However, according to Pat Ganahl’s book on the Rat Fink, Roth made molds of his various trike bodies and sold the repop bodies as kits or complete trikes in the late 1960s and early 1970s, so (especially given the stated year – Wheeler Dealer/Vitamin E was built earlier than 1972) this rough but complete Volkswagen-powered trike is more likely one of the latter. From the seller’s description:
Original condition, just out of 20-year storage….barn fresh…….all original 70′s custom paint job, and finishes. Runs and drives…….a true collectible machine by a legend…..signed by Big Daddy under the license plate. Last of my three Roth trikes…other two in museums.
