Hemmings Find of the Day – 1971 Ford Bronco
Yes, it’s hard to believe, but not all first-generation Broncos got the big-lift, big-tire, big-engine steroid treatment during the 1980s. Some, like this 1971 Ford Bronco for sale on Hemmings.com, remained unmolested. What likely spared this one was the six-cylinder and three-on-the-tree drivetrain combination and the fact that it wasn’t subjected to Midwestern rust farmer conditions, the latter leaving it too preserved – even for hardcore offroaders – to modify. From the seller’s description:
Wonderful Nevada rust-free and un-cut 1971 Ford Bronco. This is an older restoration that has aged very well. Finished in Seafoam Green with contrasting white top, bumpers, and upholstery. Includes the rare half cab and full length wagon top. This comfortable and reliable cruiser features the smooth and peppy 170-cubic-inch straight-six and 3 speed column-shift transmission. Drives tight and cruises comfortably at 65 mph. Factory 4.11 gears.
Power brakes were installed using a Ford booster for added safety. All accessories work (wipers, horn, lights, gauges, etc) with the exception of the factory radio. Factory dual fuel tanks and new 215/75-15 American Classic tires round out the package.
