Hemmings Find of the Day – 1971 Dodge Charger R/T SE
In 1971, Chrysler only built 178 Charger R/T models with the 440-cu.in. “Six Pack” V-8, so finding one in any condition is a rare occurrence. Finding a pristine and numbers-matching 1971 Dodge Charger R/T with the 440 Six-Pack option, like this one for sale on Hemmings.com, is definitely worth noting. Though the 426-cu.in. “Street Hemi” still made the most power in the Dodge lineup that year, the 440 Six-Pack was no slouch, producing 385 horsepower courtesy of its triple Holley two-barrel carburetor setup. This particular example is described as “highly optioned,” and includes such amenities as power windows, a “rim blow” horn, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, console shifter for the TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a dealer-added chin spoiler. From the seller’s description:
This is a numbers matching car. The car is equipped with a 440+6 and 727 automatic transmission.
This is a highly optioned car, with a 150 mph speedometer, power windows, rim blow horn, 6 way adjustable driver’s seat, AM/FM radio, interior hood release, center console, and a rear window defogger. The car also has hidden headlights, hood pins, dealer added chin spoiler, air grabber hood, half vinyl top, rally wheels, and a rear spoiler.
This has been my personal project since 2000. It has been in dry storage the entire time I have owned the car. There are no known issues with the car.
