Hemmings Find of the Day – 1971 Cadillac Sedan de Ville

There’s original unrestored cars, and then there’s this 1971 Cadillac Sedan de Ville for sale on Hemmings.com, a car that appears so perfectly preserved, you’d think some scientist just recently chipped away the amber that had encased it since the late Paleozoic. It has less than 30,000 miles on it, it rides on Silvertowns like it did originally, it still has the woodgrain finish on the steering wheel, and (we know our regulars will appreciate this) its R12 air conditioning system works just fine. From the seller’s description:

Purchased from the estate of the original owner, it has been stored in indoor, heated storage and has only 29,500 original miles. The original owner had six cars in his collection that he purchased new. He would drive them for a year or two, and if he felt the dealer was not offering a fair trade-in price, he would keep them and store them indefinitely!
This exceptional Cadillac Sedan deVille is finished in original Sylvan Green metallic (GM paint code 49) that shines like new. The interior is finished in Antique Dark Jade Sierra Grain leather and is nearly flawless. The dash, steering wheel and interior trim pieces show almost no wear and have no cracks or fading. The power seats, locks and windows all work perfectly. All interior and exterior lighting work, including the fender mounted, fiber optic lamp monitors. The exterior chrome has a mirror finish. The engine compartment has been completely detailed and is remarkably clean.
The car runs beautifully and drives down the road straight and true. Most hoses and belts have been replaced and the A/C was just recharged with R12 (freon) refrigerant and has no leaks. It blows ice cold. The water pump was just replaced and a new Delco battery was installed. The tires are brand new, BF Goodrich Silvertown, L78-15 dual stripe, poly belted whitewalls. The BF Goodrich Silvertowns were optional equipment on the early 70’s Cadillacs. The original Silvertown tires are available if the new owner wants them.
This wonderfully preserved 1971 Sedan deVille has an 8 track, AM/FM stereo radio in great working condition. The original Cadillac floor mats are included as is the original owner’s manual.
